I found this little pink cottage tucked away next to the water. This, I thought, would be a wonderful place to paint. With it's lovely charm and surroundings it would be a great environment to keep those creative juices flowing. However, its present owners felt the same way I felt...oh well...I'll have to find another little cottage tucked in the woods.
Here I am capturing a sunset over the untouched Everglades in Florida. This dreamy place...the sky and the water...spectacular with it's complimentary colors of orange and blue. Another miracle, a haven for so much wildlife...we have to preserve this gift.
The Block Party is a palette knife done with oils. Koi ponds and Florida seem to be a great fit. The koi are so friendly and always on the search for a little snack or maybe just a visit. They seem to live in a perpetual party state. When I would go outside to feed my koi they knew it was me and always seemed overjoyed to seem me. That's why I named my painting The Block Party. I always loved a Block Party!
The Mucky Duck is located on Captiva Island in Southwest Florida. Internationally recognized fun spot...it is beachfront dining and playing at its best. The view is spectacular with the waters of the Gulf of Mexico as a backdrop .. The colors are a wide range of aqua blues and every blue imaginable. Water activities abound ... but my favorite is by far the blazing sunsets. Absolutely glorious.
This particular sunset location always stops me in my tracks. Awe inspiring is the only way to describe the Southwest Florida sunsets. They are each unique and very beautiful. Each one is worthy of a painting. I call this one Lakeside Sunset
It is one of those places you just have to see. You'll never need directions, you'll see it and know you've reached your destination. Renowned for its fabulous food and funky decor, people from all over the world stop in to visit and chow down. It's a major part of that island charm and makes our Captiva Island an extreme must see
8"x10"x7/8" Oil on Canvas
Too Hot To Handle is an oil painting done in the palette knife technique. You can almost feel the extreme heat of the day radiating from the sun to the ground and rising in a fog. Done with a very limited palette.
A Cafe of my imagination...somewhere in a special town in Rhode Island. The East Side, Newport, or any of the historic waterfront towns, like Wickford Harbour would be a dream come true. I think it should be a cozy B&B. Maybe I should move it to another climate...say Key West? I think it's time to stop daydreaming, after all, I need to prepare for my someday Gallery.
