Growing up in a small coastal state with a large family was always an adventure. We would take family rides, maybe for an ice cream cone, to pick apples or dig quahogs. Often this brought us to the beautiful coastal waters. I always found myself drawn to this particular spot on the bay and I wondered about the house beyond this magnificent stone arched entrance. The Block Party is a palette knife done with oils. Koi ponds and Florida seem to be a great fit. The koi are so friendly and always on the search for a little snack or maybe just a visit. They seem to live in a perpetual party state. When I would go outside to feed my koi they knew it was me and always seemed overjoyed to seem me. That's why I named my painting The Block Party. I always loved a Block Party!

The sand is so soft and deep.  It appears I'm the first to travel this path in a while,  there are no prints  before mine. Imagine a stroll along the coarse black sand beach of Panalu'u Bay, Hawaii.  Green sea turtles basking in the sun are frequent visitors here.  Endeared and protected by the locals, legend is Kauila protects all children.  In her honor there is an engraving depicting Kauila carrying a sleeping child on her back.  What a magical place.
